An SVAR Approach
This was my project in Leslie Myint’s Causal Inference (STAT 451) Class in Fall 2024 with Samina Stack.
For the project, we wanted to use statistical strategies to estimate the spending-side fiscal multiplier. Specifically, we used a structural VAR to identify the effect of structural shocks to government spending. We found little evidence of a multiplier effect, and that government spending has an almost one-to-one effect on output.
